3 Configuration Modes

The 280X PRO offers three customizable configuration modes, giving users the flexibility to adjust the transmitter layout based on their preferred training style and setup. Each mode provides a different button configuration based on your training needs, which includes:

• Pro Mode (Shield Pre-Installed)
• 2-Dog Mode (Shield Included)
• Standard Mode (Shield Sold Separately)

With these three options, the 280X PRO can be configured to match different training preferences and styles. Below, we'll take a closer look at each mode and explain the key differences between them.

Dedicated Nick & Constant Buttons

One of the most important features in the 280X PRO is the dedicated Nick and Constant buttons, providing users more intuitive access to their preferred stimulation modes.

With separate buttons for Nick and Constant stimulation, users can easily apply the desired correction without needing to switch or adjust controls during training. This dedicated button layout helps improve timing, consistency, and overall handling, especially during fast-paced training situations.

1-Dog Lock Mode

Although the system is defaulted to be 3-Dog expandable, the Pro Mode allows users to lock the transmitter into 1-Dog Mode with a simple button combination.

This feature helps prevent accidental switching while carrying the transmitter in a pocket or bag during active training sessions, allowing you to stay focused on your dog without worrying about unintended changes.

No Boost

Since the Pro Mode features dedicated Nick and Constant buttons, it does not include a Boost function. This streamlined design provides direct access to both stimulation types without the need for a separate Boost setting.

If you are looking for a system with Boost functionality, we recommend considering the 280X or 280X PRO Standard Mode, which offer additional stimulation options for trainers who prefer that feature.

Dedicated Dog-1 & Dog-2 Buttons

The 2-Dog Mode is designed for users who work with multiple dogs, providing dedicated buttons for Dog 1 and Dog 2 without the need to toggle between dogs. This allows for faster transitions and more precise control during training sessions.

Whether you need to quickly select Nick, Constant, or another function for a specific dog, the dedicated controls help minimize delays and keep your focus on the training process.

Programmable Nick/Constant Center Button

The center button on the 280X PRO 2-Dog Mode allows you to select between Nick or Constant stimulation for Dog-1 and Dog-2.

This dedicated control provides fast access to the desired stimulation mode without navigating through additional settings, helping trainers maintain focus during multi-dog training sessions.

Function Toggle for Non-Stimulation Features

2-Dog Mode still retains popular non-stimulation features, including Pager Vibration, Audible Tone, and the bright 1000 LUX LED Locate Light.

Using the toggle, users can select one feature at a time, and the selected function will sync with the dedicated button layout for Dog 1 and Dog 2. This allows trainers to quickly access the desired feature for each dog while maintaining simple and efficient control during multi-dog training sessions.

No Boost Feature

Like Pro Mode, the 2-Dog Mode does not feature a dedicated Boost button. Instead, the transmitter is designed with dedicated controls for managing two dogs, providing direct access to each dog's training functions without the need for additional steps or switching between settings.

Boost Feature

Like the original X-Series button layout, Standard Mode features a dedicated Boost button that allows users to instantly increase stimulation from the current level without needing to adjust the dial.

This provides quick access to stronger stimulation during high-distraction situations, allowing users to make immediate adjustments when needed.

Customizable Central Command Button

The original X-Series and Standard Mode layout feature a center button that can be programmed to Nick or Constant stimulation, allowing users to customize the transmitter based on their personal preferences.

With the stimulation button conveniently positioned in the center, users can quickly access their preferred stimulation mode while keeping their focus on timing, control, and the training session.

Scenario 1: "I'm Getting Started on E-Collars"

If you are looking for a straightforward setup with all essential features readily available, the 280X may be the better option for you. Its familiar layout provides an easy-to-use experience without the need to choose between different configuration modes.

Scenario 2: "I'm a Professional Dog Trainer"

For a seasoned dog trainer that demands reliability and performance, the 280X PRO may be the best option. With Pro Mode featuring dedicated Nick and Constant buttons, they can quickly access whichever stimulation is necessary for that situation and respond quicker.
